Aishah puts aside her fear: Dr Fauziah

Aishah's chipped tooth before we started

Aishah is a banker. When she came into the clinic, I could see that she was nervous. Her eyes darted from one place to another like she was looking for an excuse to get up and run away!

In fact just after she sat down, Damalis closed the door to the sterilization room … her eyes darted towards Damalis and she tensed up. I smiled at her and said, ” Don’t be so afraid, Aishah! It’s only Damalis closing the door!” She laughed and slowly began to relax.

We chatted for a bit … I asked her what she didn’t like about her smile. Aishah said she had fallen as a child and chipped her tooth … she didn’t like the gaps and she didn’t like the way her lower teeth were tilted outwards either.

Yes, this is less than an hour later!

I agreed that they could be improved … actually I couldn’t wait to start as I knew Aishah was going to love the transformation! But as she was nervous, I took my time and chatted a bit more to help her relax.

Once she didn’t look like she was going to bolt for the door 😉 we started with her clean up whilst I explained why it was so important to keep her teeth clean of the calculus … I told her how periodontitis (that’s inflammation of the gums and bone) have been proven to cause complications of heart ailments, diabetes and even has been implicated in premature delivery in some cases.

These are some of the things that were in the lectures on Dental Medicine that I attended in Dusseldorf and Heilsbronn in Germany last week. I had joined a group of Malaysian and Cambodian dentists for training in Clinical Lasers, Periodontology and implants, so it was fresh in my mind!

Aishah needed to do her lowers too

The actual makeover didn’t take much time at all … Aishah, is actually a young lady but her chipped tooth and tilted lower made her look at least 10 years older!

I knew it was going to be a shock (though a pleasant shock!) when she first saw her new transformed smile, so I sat near her before I passed her the mirror.

Yes, it was a shock!

Aishah was fighting back her tears when she looked in the mirror. I have seen this happen so many times before so I guess I can tell which patients need the extra support.

No injections still = no pain!

Makeovers can be a life changing event … many a time patients have wanted a different smile than they have and even when they stumble on this blog and see the many, many photos here, they think to themselves, “Is it true? Can it really happen so easily? Does it really not hurt? Can it really be so affordable and take just one visit?”

Even though we post makeover after makeover after makeover in this blog, patients often think, “Maybe it could happen to them … I don’t really believe that it can happen to me.” but fortunately some have enough hope and faith and actually make the call to the clinic and make the appointment to see us. (Thank you God!)

Aishah was one of those patients … I could tell that it took a lot from her to come into the clinic and trust me enough to do my magic.

What a difference!

And no … it’s not magic … it’s just good artistic dentistry … but the transformation, like for Aishah, can be immense.

I am grateful that our patients take that leap of faith and make the call for and appointment … and actually come into the clinic too!

So many people don’t which is a pity, don’t you think?

Thank you, Aishah, for giving up your fear just long enough for me to show you that it can happen for you … that you too can have your dream smile.

Aishah is my first makeover since I returned from Germany … and creating her beautiful smile, seeing the joy in her eyes when she saw herself for the first time … well that reminded me why I love doing what I do.

I have the best job in the world!

I get to make people happy and give them what they want …

I get to create beautiful smiles every day! 😉
