Are you ready for Raya? – Dr Tan Swee Ling

Ramadhan just around the corner, and is often a time when people neglect their oral care and can suffer from bad breath and even tooth disease.

Here are some of my advice to avoid bad breath in the day.

First and foremost, start to make an appointment with your dentist for a thorough check-up, and follow through the necessary treatments to improve your oral heath condition. In other words, start to get rid of those tartar and holes filled!
And as for some, any wisdom tooth that is annoying you? Perhaps you want to start planning with your dentist it’s removal?

During fasting, the mouth becomes dry and this naturally results in bad breath and so poor oral hygiene care can make condition worse. Hence I recommend brushing and flossing thoroughly before sleeping at night and brushing after the pre-dawn meal. Yes, that’s right, it’s after your pre-dawn meal. This way you are still maintaining brushing twice a day and that is sufficient to prevent bad breath and hopefully tooth diseases too.

Brushing your teeth twice a day, keeps the cavities at bay!
