Is it time to replace your composite veneers? : Dr Nik

How long can composite veneers last?

Composite veneers can last 5 to 8 years, on average. After that, you’ll need a replacement set of veneers. The most common reason is staining and discolouration of the veneers. You also need replacement of veneers if you start to have cavities forming at the margin of the veneers.

Is it a difficult procedure to replace the composite veneer? Well, not at all. Composite veneers can be easily removed and replaced by adding new composite material.

All that a dentist needs to do is to trim out the composite, refresh the veneer preparation and adding and sculpting new composite, like what I did on one off our dear patient few days ago.

Discoloured composite veneers

Her existing composite veneers had discoloured and there’s few cavities forming. I removed all composite veneers , clean up the cavities and beautify the veneer preparation.

After removal of existing composite veneers

Once I achieved this , I started to add and sculpt composite resin onto the prepared teeth. Next was the polishing stage, which is the final stage of composite veneer treatment. All in all , it took me almost 3 hours to complete the treatment .

New composite veneers!

Yup… veneer treatment is a time consuming treatment but the time spent was worth it because my patient was so happy with her new veneers.

Do you think it’s time for you to replace your veneers too? If you do, do call us for an appointment and we will be glad to help you.
