When should fissure sealants be placed?
Primary molars – 3 to 4 years old
First permanent molars – 6 to 7 years old
Second permanent molars and premolars – 11 to 13 years old

Can fissure sealants be placed on teeth of adults?
Yes, dental sealants are sometimes placed in adults with risk for caries, on deep grooves and fissures that do not already have fillings or fissure sealants.
