Are you ready for sparkling white teeth?

First impression is everything. An attractive smile is an important part to make a positive impression. Whether it is a job interview or a first date, you want to make sure that your smile helps you to achieve a “love at first sight “effect. Is this a myth? No!

The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry found:
• 99.7% of adults believe a whiter smile is an important social asset;
• 96% believe a whiter smile makes you more attractive to the opposite sex;

What can we do then to unleash a whiter and brighter smile?
Professional tooth whitening is a quick yet effective way to lighten the natural color of your teeth without removing any structure of the teeth.

What causes tooth discoloration?
There are many causes.

The most common include aging and consumption of staining substances such as coffee, tea, colas, tobacco, red wine, etc. During tooth formation, consumption of tetracycline, certain antibiotics or excessive fluoride may also cause tooth discoloration.

An examination by the dentist is important to understand the underlying factor causing teeth changing color. There are certain conditions that cannot be solved by teeth whitening alone.

How does tooth whitening work?
The whitening products contain one of two bleaches (Hydrogen Peroxide or Carbamide Peroxide). These bleaches cause a chemical reaction that breaks apart the carbon bonds that create yellow stains. Once the bonds are broken, they no longer reflect a yellow color.

How is the procedure like?
A regular scaling is recommended before starting the procedure to remove plaque and stains on the teeth.

The dentist will first cover your lips and gums, leaving the teeth exposed. Then, the dentist will apply whitening gel on your teeth and shine a specialised desinged light to your teeth.

In Klinik Pergigian Fauziah, we use Zoom! Chairside Whitening System. The procedure involves four times applying the whitening gel on your teeth. Each time the whitening gel is painted on, a specialised light will shine your teeth for 15 minutes. The whole procedure on the chair for whitening takes about an hour.

How long will my teeth stay white?
The effect of whitening is thought to last up to three years. However, it varies from person to person.

Are there any side effects?
Sensitivity during the treatment may occur with some patients. Relief® ACP Oral Care Gel is applied to minimise sensitivity. The Zoom! Light generates minimal heats which is the usual source of discomfort. Placing the Zoom! Light a slight distance away reduces any discomfort. On rare occasions, minor tingling sensations are experienced immediately after the procedure, but this always dissipate.

How can I look after my teeth after teeth whitening?
You can help to keep your teeth white by reducing food or drinks that will stain your teeth such as coffee and red wine. Smoking is also another reason of yellow teeth soon after teeth whitening.
We also recommend Dentcoat which creates crystalline tooth protection for a longer lasting whitening effect.

How much is the cost?
In Klinik Pergigian Fauziah, the normal cost for Zoom! whitening is RM1800.
However, as a thanksgiving to our supporters, we are offering teeth whitening at a reduced price of RM1600 plus free scaling (worth RM150) in the month of November and December.
