Yusry is Lynn’s husband, who is our clinic manager at Klinik Pergigian Fauziah Menara Raja Laut. Lynn has been asking me to do a makeover for Yusry to improve his smile. But, due to Yusry busy schedule, I was only able to see him end of May.
Yusry had a protruded upper right central incisor.He told me the tooth was fine last time. Only recently he noticed the tooth was jutting out.
After my initial examination, I informed Yusry he had an early beginning of periodontitis.
“What is that doctor?” he asked
“Periodontitis is is a serious gum infection that damages the soft tissue and destroys the bone that supports your teeth. Periodontitis can cause tooth loss or worse, an increased risk of heart attack or stroke and other serious health problems.” I explained to him
“Don’t worry Yusry. It is still at the early stage and you wont lose your tooth” I reassured him.
I explained the treatment options to him. He could opt to extract the protruded central incisor and do an immediate bridge to replace it or we can correct it with removable appliance (removable braces) for few months to push down the right central incisor into position and then combine it with cosmetic fillings.
Yusry chose the later since no extraction involved. I took the impression of his upper teeth and asked him to come back a week later
When Yusry came in for his second appointment , I issued him the appliance and gave him the instructions on how to take care of his appliance. Since the appliance needs to be reactivated after a certain period of time, I actually saw Yusry regularly untill last week.
Last Saturday, I finalized his treatment and as you can see the central incisor has been moved downwards and into position( after 4 reactivation visit of the appliance). I finished it with 2 veneers to improve his smile.
Both Yusry and Lynn were happy with the result. Yusry could not stop smiling and Lynn could not stop gushing on how handsome her husband is.
This reactions made me smile too and had me love my job more.
Tomorrow is the 31st August,where we Malaysian celebrating our independence day. I would like to wish Happy Birthday Malaysia or Selamat Hari Merdeka. I wish this 57th independence day will bring us strength, prosperity and as well as uniting us all.
