Are first impressions important?
Well, yes it is and I think everybody does realise that. From hair and skin to clothes and shoes, one’s appearance is a constant trigger of snap judgements…and believe it or not, according to a survey, thousands of participants say teeth are the most important characteristic. Therefore, whether we like it or not, we are often judged by our appearance and a nice set of straight white teeth does make a difference.
So, what if we were not gifted with nice straight white teeth? Is there anything that can be done to get one and give people a good first impression of ourselves?
Well, depending on one’s dental conditions, there are many treatment options that can be offered in order to achieve a nice looking set of teeth. One of them are veneers.
There are two types of dental veneers; porcelain veneers and composite veneers. Porcelain veneers are wafer thin , custom-made shells of porcelain designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve their appearance. Composite veneers are layer of resin composite filling material that is applied and sculpted to the surface of the teeth to improve their appearance.
Both type of veneers fit the same purpose. It can fixed teeth that are discolored, worn down, chipped or broken, uneven or irregularly shaped and can also close the gaps or space in between teeth.
Depending on time needed for treatment and your budget, you can decide either to do porcelain veneers or composite veneers. Composite veneer is cheaper than porcelain veneer and require one visit while for porcelain veneer you need at least 2 visits.
