Since I’ve started orthodontic treatments for patients in Klinik Pergigian Fauziah (KPF), I’ve been hesitating offering ceramic braces to my patients due to a few factors. One of the biggest issue is the frequent dislodging of the brackets. But I must say from the minimal…

Let’s face it, even we as adults freak out at the idea of removing a tooth. Nobody enjoys it or looks forward to it, but unfortunately, we don’t always have a choice. What should you do if you suspect that your child needs an extraction?…
let me introduce Miss Lee (name changed to protect anonymity) , who visited Klinik Pergigian Fauziah and complained of mobile lower left back tooth since 1 week ago, She experienced slight discomfort when she has her meals
Upon examination, the lower left 2nd molar was non carious however slightly mobile, with deep pocket spacing of 10mm noted between the 2nd and 3rd molar. A pocket generally formed when there is bone loss between adjacent teeth due to multiple reasons such as gum problems, genetic, aging ,infection, etc.
I have advised Miss Lee to take a dental cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scan for further investigation as it is uncommon to be presented with such deep pocket with her oral hygiene in fair condition and no significant caries on that tooth. Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is a radiographic imaging method that allows accurate, three-dimensional (3D) imaging of hard tissue structures
Based on the 3D x-ray , we found suspicious dense ‘balloon-like’ lesion not only on the 2nd molar, but on the 1st molar as well! This might possibly be chronic inflammation, soft tissue calcifications, or even tumours. Miss Lee was informed regarding her x-ray findings and advised for referral to oral pathologist for further management.
Remember, lack of / absence of dental pain does not necessarily means there isn’t anything wrong with your tooth. Do not ignore any dental discomfort and please do visit us at KPF for further consultation.
